Hi, I’m Janella,

an Industrial Designer with a passion for creating thoughtful, human-centered experiences.

I’m drawn to design because it sits at the intersection of creativity, empathy, and problem-solving. I believe meaningful design starts with understanding people—their needs, experiences, and individuality—and using that understanding to create products and experiences that are both functional and intentional.

My design philosophy is simple:
Human first. Designer second.

I strive to approach every project with curiosity, compassion, and an open mind, while creating work that promotes inclusivity, individuality, and positive impact.

Human first.

Designer second.

…but what does it mean?

“Human first, designer second” is a philosophy I choose to live by and carry into my work. At its core, the belief is that, before anything else, we are all human. I’ve learned that compassion, empathy, and understanding are essential not only to becoming a better designer, but also to becoming a better person.

We are not perfect. We will make mistakes, experience failure, and face rejection. However, these experiences are an inevitable and meaningful part of life. What matters is what we learn from them, how we grow, and how we use those lessons to move forward.

I believe that change begins with compassion. As designers, we have the opportunity to create meaningful change, but we cannot do so without first understanding the people we design for. By listening to their experiences, recognizing their needs, and approaching challenges with empathy, we can uncover unmet opportunities and create solutions that genuinely improve quality of life.

Good design is not just about creating something new. It is about understanding people, caring about their experiences, and designing with the intention of making life better for everyone.

Emotion is a huge part of design; it is the root of connection.
